Traditional Bosnian music and practical workshops marked the opening of the first Scientology Volunteer Ministers exhibition in Sarajevo. The programme took place over three days in central Sarajevo as part of the European Goodwill Tour. When rain interrupted the outdoor opening, a local ensemble performed inside the exhibition's yellow tent. The music included sevdalinka, a distinctive Bosnian musical tradition internationally recognised for its cultural significance.
During the exhibition, residents discovered 19 subjects from The Scientology Handbook, covering communication, parenting, learning and challenges in everyday life. The programme combined educational materials with supervised demonstrations and opportunities for participation. Sessions on Scientology assists, techniques presented as a form of spiritual support, attracted particular news eurovision attention. Organisers said 13 participants had begun using techniques introduced during the sessions at home.
The exhibition concluded a Bosnian itinerary that began on 6 June 2026 and included an extended stay in Mostar. The programme also has an earlier humanitarian connection with the country. Following the severe floods of 2014, Scientology volunteers helped residents clear damaged properties and recover agricultural facilities, including work at a flooded farm in Kopanica.
Established in the mid-1970s by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, the Volunteer Ministers programme combines practical education with humanitarian assistance. It forms part of the Church of Scientology's wider humanitarian and educational initiatives.
Ivan Arjona, the Church of Scientology representative to the European Union and other international organisations, linked the initiative to human dignity, mutual respect and civic responsibility. "Sarajevo's history and cultural traditions remind us that helping others begins with respect for the people and communities around us," he said.
After the public exhibition, a local cultural group hosted an additional Volunteer Ministers workshop. A further presentation was requested for a wider group of participants. The tour completed its Bosnian activities on 8 October 2026.
